1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how PyScape ("we", "our", or "the app") handles information when you use the PyScape application for iOS. We believe privacy is a fundamental right. Our design goal is simple: we collect as little data as possible — in fact, none of it is personal.
2. Information We Collect
We do not collect any personal information. Specifically, we do not:
- Require you to create an account, register, or provide your name or email address;
- Collect your location, contacts, photos, or device identifiers;
- Use analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising SDKs that send data to third parties;
- Track your activity across other apps or websites.
PyScape is a code-learning app. The Python code you write is executed locally on your device using a WebAssembly-based Python runtime (Pyodide). Your code and its output are processed entirely on your device and are never transmitted to us.
3. Data Stored on Your Device
The only information stored is local, on-device data needed for the app to function:
- Preferences and favorites — for example, your favorite lessons and saved code snippets, stored in the app's local storage on your device.
- Python runtime cache — copies of the bundled runtime files, stored locally so the app works offline.
- Purchase status — a local record of whether you have an active subscription, used only to determine which features to unlock.
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly delete the app, at which point it is removed.
4. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
PyScape offers auto-renewing subscriptions. All purchases are processed exclusively through Apple's App Store and governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
- Payment details, such as credit card information, are collected and processed by Apple. We never see or store your payment information.
- Apple may provide us with non-personal, transactional information (such as whether a purchase succeeded) so we can unlock features on your device.
- Subscription management, including cancellation, is handled through your Apple ID account settings.
5. Network Use
The app is designed to work fully offline. In normal use, no network connection is required and no data is transmitted. In rare cases where the locally bundled runtime files are unavailable, the app may attempt to download them from public content-delivery networks (such as jsDelivr or unpkg). These downloads consist only of public, open-source runtime files and contain no personal information.
6. Children's Privacy
PyScape does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your country). Because we collect no personal data, there is nothing that requires parental consent to process. If you are a parent or guardian and have questions about how PyScape handles your child's data, please contact us using the details below.
7. Data Security
Since your data remains on your device and is not transmitted to us, the primary security measure is Apple's built-in iOS sandboxing, which prevents other apps from accessing PyScape's local storage. We recommend that you protect your device with a passcode or biometric authentication.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Because we hold no personal data about you, most privacy rights — such as the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information — are automatically satisfied. You can, at any time:
- Delete the app to remove all locally stored data.
- Manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID settings.
- Control the app's access to network features through iOS Settings.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app release notes. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
